We have had quite a bit of trouble trying to book the igloos in London for Christmas or new year’s. Every Year- we sit tapping on our laptops and smart phones, constantly refreshing the page to try and get a booking in. It almost always crashes and leaves us all annoyed, angry and overwhelmed. (This is the 2000’s baby- patience and tolerance went when dial up internet went)
So when this advert popped up in the local newspaper. We were stumped. Here we are trying every year without fail (actually with fail) to book us into igloos all the way in London, when half an hours drive away we have igloos off our own! The Waterfront Igloo Dining at Market Harborough
OK yes, I know Market Harborough is no London, and the view of River Thames is River Thames- but we weren’t getting anywhere with that 2 years in row…… So this seemed ideal.
It’s round the corner, it’s a fraction of a price and its an igloo…that’s 3 check boxes ticked.
Waterfront Igloo Dining- The Booking
So how did the booking go? Well…. It was Christmas time, so as you can imagine it was exactly the same! The page kept crashing. And we struggled.
But we persevered and in the end. One day. One lucky day. One seriously lucky damn day- I managed to get through to them by phone!
But…. Yup as expected they were fully booked, and afternoon tea was booked all the way to Feb ( I love afternoon tea, I was so wounded) , but we decided on lunch instead, and they managed to slot us in early January…. Wahey! Finally!! We were going in a igloo! The Waterfront Igloo.
The Waterfront igloo dining is a British restaurant/pub in Market Harborough, and at the back of this restaurant facing the Canal basin at Union Wharf, are these two beautiful Igloos for dining.
It is just the perfect spot, its a mini version of the River Thames… actually maybe a minute version…..oh Sod it! its not the Thames or London at all, BUT its so damn cute and picturesque.

The Igloo’s

And tell me how pretty this is? Go on say it….. Ok! I’ll say it, its so pretty!. Isn’t it so pretty?

Inside the waterfront Igloo dining, its all snugglie and cute. It has a Dyson heater inside so its nice and warm, blankets are available to get even more snuggled up.
We got our own dedicated Waiter, who we can call with a remote device whenever needed, so we didn’t have to get up and go inside once snuggled in.

We were also given a blue tooth speaker which we synced with our phones so we had our own choice of music on, which was definitely a special feature. All these little details made the day so special.
What we Ordered
And now for the Food; we started off with Non Alcoholic Mocktails, Mixed Berry Refreshers which were really refreshing. Really Impressed with it. And here’s a cheer to the day….
For the Food we had to go for the Vegetarian/Fish options. The menu did have a few options available, and we did ask the waiter to make sure no alcohol was in the food as well. He made sure the request was put to the chef, and came back and advised us what we should go for.

Whilst we waited for our food, obviously its selfie time, and so here we are. The Golden Girls, off on one of our many adventures;

And now what we ordered;
The Vegetarian Platter Grazing Board, the Boathouse Luxary Fish Pie, and the Parmesan and Herb Crusted Sea Bass fillet. And for dessert we had Chocolate Brownie.
And all of it was devoured. It was really good and served Warm. The Fish pie was so creamy and filling, and the brownie ending our day just right.
My Verdict
All in all our experience was amazing, the staff were attentive to our needs, the hidden extras were a bonus to the day and I loved that we were cooped up inside this igloo, where we were allowed to laugh as loud as we want without having to worry about disturbing anyone else.
The deposit of securing this igloo is at £5 per person and then we pay for whatever food we order, and truly it is worth a visit. Get booking people .

I know I will be going back, hopefully for the afternoon tea this time.
And now its time to say goodbye; and here is one last pic in the evening, where it looks even more beautiful all lit up,
