I won’t lie to you, this was not in the agenda. Abu Dhabi was not on the agenda at all.
But what with the complexities we faced with our flight changing- giving us an extra day (us Brits’ we complain about everything don’t we?). We decided a day in Abu Dhabi would be a nice break after our flight.
We chose the Park Rotana Abu Dhabi firstly because its just a 15 minute drive away from the airport, but also just a 10 minute drive away from the Grand Sheikh Zayed Mosque.
I mean a visit to Abu Dhabi has to include a visit to this absolute breathtaking mosque

Park Rotana Abu Dhabi
It was literally a last minute thing, we had no where to stay, and we had the whole night to go through. Our next visit was to the Rixos in Ras al Khaimah and they were fully booked and could not accommodate us for the night.
We chose this ad-hoc and lets just say we were extremely pleased with it. Evan jotted it down should we come again to Abu-Dhabi, this is where we will be staying.
A mere 10 minute drive away from Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and Khalifa Park, Park Rotana Abu Dhabi is a luxury hotel in Abu Dhabi. We stayed just for one night at the four-star hotel.
On entrance I knew straight away we were somewhere special, the grandiosity of the reception took my breath away (It has been a long time since I last travelled). Cleanliness, open spaces and modernity are what I look for, and the Park Rotana offered all this.

Park Rotana- Rooms
With bell boys ready to sweep up our luggage after the tiresome flight we were given a joining room (had the two Kiddos with me). Once again I was well impressed with the room. Spacious and breathable with a sofa lounge, mini bar, in-room safe, cupboards for clothes, comfortable King bed for us, the boys had 2 single beds, large smart TV, complimentary tea & coffee making facilities.
As well as a very large and exceptionally clean and modern walk in shower room, with towels, bathrobes, slippers and complimentary shampoos and shower gels (all of which I didn’t take a photo off. I don’t really know why? I really need to get my blogger mode on!)
Park Rotana- Breakfast
We had booked in the breakfast as really not having anticipated that we would have to stay here, we didn’t really look into where we would go for breakfast.
Once again we were impressed.
It was a great start to the holiday, such a pity that we were not staying for longer, I could’ve made this my home for the next couple of days.
But need to move on.
