I’m not sure what you expect from this blog post, I mean who am I to give a review on ‘New York Café’ Budapest when its already been rated ‘The Worlds prettiest Café by almost everything and everybody I know.

I’m not quite sure when or who voted it as the ‘Prettiest Café in the World’, I did a little google search. Google agrees that its the prettiest café but I’m none the wiser where and when that actually took place.

Having said that. I 100% agree with Google, and every other human being, article and blog post. This is by far the most beautiful café I have ever been to.

Breath-taking from the step inside, the opulence, the grandeur, the colours, the pillars, the richness, the chandeliers, etched glass, live soft music. From the streets of Budapest you are transported back in time to a different era.

Inside the New York Café Budapest

I almost felt out of place in my trainers and blazer (in my defence we were only here for a weekend and I needed a lot of ticking off to do. It was going to be a busy day)

Rich velvets, shiny marble, intimate glass, intricate gold detailing, soft piano keys. The first 20 minutes are just taking in the whole vibe, a vibe like no other.

The New York café Budapest is Huge! I wrote it with a capital H because its needed here, and yet it still has queues outside.

We waited 20 minutes before we got in, which was a good day, as I’ve heard people say they have waited up to an hour, sometimes a little more.

Whilst the hubby sat and worked out how many seater, how may staff, how much minimum wage is, how much each guest is paying, and how much the electricity cost is. I took in the richness of the air, the high ceilings, the intricate designs, and the grandeur of it all, which definitely could not be captured by camera at all.

It was almost like dining inside a museum in a different lifetime.

Breakfast at New York Café Budapest

Ill be honest, it wasn’t so badly priced, I was expecting a grunt or two off the hubby but he was pleasantly surprised too. I wouldn’t say it was cheap, but it wasn’t a wallet breaker too.

We opted for the Italian Breakfast, because it came on a stand (Don’t roll your eyes at me! This is me your going to breakfast with!) The Italian breakfast comes with 2 drinks, one hot and cold, that’s me and the hubby sorted.

We had a variety of croissants, and breads. Condiments that include strawberry, blueberry, honey, and clotted cream and a fresh fruit salad.

It was perfect (keep in mind its not halal, so the Italian Breakfast worked best for us)and how could it go wrong. I cant really give a proper review of the food, but what we had was perfect for us, and made a damn well good picture.

In terms of service, I’ve always found there’s no better service anywhere in the world other than the UK. Customer service in UK is second than none. I’m not saying we experienced anything bad, just everything feels a lot harder when abroad.

Would I advise you to go here?

In a heartbeat, Yes! A place not to be missed. It absolutely takes your breath away. This is a once in a lifetime experience, make sure its high up in the bucket list for Budapest.

A few notes to take, be prepared to wait. Its almost always busy! reservations can be made for dinner but before 6pm its a first come first serve basis. Waits can be from 20 minutes to an hour.

The New York café is in the Pest area of Budapest in the Jewish Quarter, from our hotel The Kempinski it was a 20 minute walk away.

Opening hours are 8am till midnight. Breakfast is served 8am-11am, so come early for the Italian Breakfast.
