I think we slept in 3 seconds last night, literally like 1…2….. Snore. That kind of thing, which was great and the next morning we woke up to this view….. The Premier Inn at Southwark…. London forever has my heart (*Sighs*)

But all’s not lost, Breakfast is back on the proper way! Wahey. Suck it Covid! Breakfast in Hotels are my favourite part about stays and I was super chuffed with this.

The Plan for Today:

We Are Going Boating!

What is GoBoat London?

GoBoat London is a self-driving boating experience. The boats are electric and are available for hire. The hire time is 1 hour, 2 hour or 3 hours.

The boats hold a maximum of 8 people, and what I loved the most is that it has a table that runs along the middle. This was perfect to take a little picnic with us.

GoBoat London is just a walk away from the Paddington Underground Station.

How does it Work?

On Arrival a brief Safety Guide (do not jump, do not stand up…blah blah blah ) and Instructions on how to drive the boat were given by the friendly staff and then we boarded Irene no. 14. Our Boat for the Day

Our designated driver was the eldest of the Kiddo’s and we were taken on a short test run with a staff member. Once she felt the kiddo was comfortable we were give our map and off we went.

The boats are very simple and easy to ride, and travel at fastest point of 4mph, and the best part is you don’t need any previous driving experience at all. (Age restriction 18 and over if you are driving.)

Our Route

Our route took us from Little Venice, to the Regent’s Canal. Whilst sailing we went past a number of other canal boats and saw loads of ducks and ducklings . The route was beautiful.

We passed Rembrandt Gardens, Blomfield Road, this is where we saw loads of beautiful narrow boats parked up (Are boats parked up? Is that what you call it?).

We then went through the Maida Hill Tunnel which is 251 metres long, and then through a section of Villas – where we dreamed they belonged to us.

From there we went onto Regent’s Park and The London Zoo; where we caught sight of a few animals and also waved to people visiting the Zoo who looked down to us.

Our final and turning point was at the Cumberland Basin and the beautiful, floating Chinese Restaurant.

The route back was the same way in reverse. Of course.

Having had another day of beautiful weather, we enjoyed our boat ride immensely. Especially after the strenuous climb of the O2 and the walking from yesterday.

The Perfect Picnic

But What good is a boat trip without a picnic? I ordered this from a sweet little girl back at home in Leicester- business name called Hurma. and she did not disappoint.

The sandwiches were varied from the plain cucumbers, to chicken sandwiches, to red onion and mayonnaise. She also packed up some fruits, and nuts and mini cheese board.

It was just perfect. We picked on the food the whole way through our 2 hour journey.

The Verdict

We hired the boat out for 2 hours, this can be shorter or longer if you wish. I found that 2 hours was just about right.

The kids were fascinated in the first hour and a half. The last half hour they started the moaning and groaning. Lucky we were on the way back.

Overall the experience was amazing.

I would recommend this to you on your next trip. Its fun, its relaxing, and its different to the fast life of London.

Such a totally different experience of the manic that is London, and if your lucky with the weather as we were its absolutely perfect.
