Wahey Its that time of year, a time of year we love and loathe all at the same time.
With the Heat wave coming, what better way to cool down than to pop the kettle on?
Now why are you looking at me like that? I’m not joking I’ll even get the science bit in, in a little while. Pop the kettle on. Lets discuss shall we?…

I know, I know generally on a hot day we all run towards the cold drinks, right? because hydration. right?

And there are loads, absolutely loads of hacks out there to try and cool down in the Heat wave. Every Tom, Dick and Patel seem to have some sort of theory.

From keeping your windows and curtains closed to having a cold shower…
But let me tell you why out of all of these having a cup of tea is definitely the better option.
Here comes the science part (say it like Jennifer Aniston in the Loreal advert)
A study at the University of Ottawa by Ollie Jay found that when consuming a hot drink the thermosensors in the mouth detect heat which activates a sweating response. The sweat then gets absorbed by the body heat and gets evaporated into the air. Therefore indicating that hot drinks are actually the better option in a heatwave.

Don’t believe me? Here’s another one
A Study at the University of Cambridge by Professor Peter McNaughton, a neuroscientist found that consuming hot beverages, will raise your core body temperature, which makes you to sweat at an increased rate.
I’m sure you don’t want another one do you?

I mean think about it logically. Countries like India, Saudi Arabia, Turkey all have very high temperature and on a hot day you will see people in cafes having Tea. Must be a reason right?
SO in conclusion, it seems that tea really does hold the answer to all of life’s problems.
And if you are feeling rather flustered by the heat, don’t touch that cold drink in the fridge, go and pop the kettle on, and thank me in the process.

Love and Regards
